Tekna Oslo department is celebrating their 150th anniversary by giving something back to the city of Oslo, namely a mural in Forskningsparken at Blindern. We invite you to see the finished mural and hear about Xenz artistic process.
How does a street art artist proceed when he stands in front of his canvas, a 36 square meter wall? How do you choose the motif and how on earth do you transfer it to a huge wall? The artist, Xenz, will answer this and more in a conversation with Oslo Street Art’s artistic leader, James Finucane.
Program:
16.00-16.30 Refreshments, visit the exhibition and see the mural
16.30-17.30 Conversation with Xenz and James Finucane (Director, Oslo Street Art Festival)
17.30-18.00 Visit the exhibition and see the mural
Xenz (Graeme Brusby, b. 1974) is a seasoned artist who started his career in graffiti at the age of 14 in Hull, England. Over time, he has cultivated a unique and experimental style, using spray cans to create landscapes filled with birds and butterflies. He has lived in Bristol, collaborating with renowned artists like Banksy, Inkie, and the TCF graffiti crew.
Exhibition: Oslo, Home of the Spray Can
Did you know that the original aerosol spray can was a Norwegian invention? It was invented by Erik Rotheim in Norway in 1926. This new can opened up a whole new art tradition, namely graffiti and street art. Oslo Street Art has, together with The Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology and a private collector, put together an exhibition of old spray cans from different decades which you can visit at Forskningsparken during the event.
