Each year, local teens help produce Oslo Street Art Festival through the municipality’s UngJobb initiative, which gives young people the opportunity to have a summer job in their community. 

Youngsters aged 15-18 are involved across all aspects of the festival production, from assisting artists with painting and installing works of art, to helping the organisers to run the program of workshops and guided tours. In doing so, they receive valuable work experience while also acquiring new skills and earning extra income in the process.

Hanne Ugelstad, educational lead in Street Art Oslo: “This is a great opportunity for local youngsters to get involved in the implementation and future development of the festival. Not only do the participants learn from experienced artists, producers and organizers, but they directly contribute to making their neighbourhood a more colourful and interesting place.”
