With the solo exhibition titled Prinser og Prinsesser (Princes and Princesses), Eva Hansen Sjøvold fills the exhibition space at Gamle Munch with her characteristically colourful portraits that sensitively explore queer identity.

"Previously, I have exhibited a lot with Pride art, other group exhibitions, a couple of solo exhibitions through various local galleries and worked a lot with live painting as a performance during raves. I am a painter who works on large formats. And I use the paintings to portray my circle of friends and the subculture I am a part of. My main focus is on outsiders, and the people I paint are usually queer. I am concerned with conveying an experience of intimacy and a desire for closeness. I work with the painting as an extension of the human being, where colors and space should express the inner emotional life of those I paint and my encounter with them. There is an underrepresentation of young figurative painters in the Norwegian art scene today, especially of those who follow the expressionist tradition. There I feel that I am drawing a common thread from Munch's philosophy when it comes to painting into my modernized queer narrative. I feel these similarities and contrasts could be interesting to show at Gamle Munch.”

Eva Hansen Sjøvold (b. 2001) is a young painter from Mo i Rana, based in Oslo. They have collaborated with Oslo Street Art Festival since spring 2022, which has resulted in two murals on Grunerløkka, one in Mo i Rana and an exhibition in Sofienberg Kirke.

Dog Days (est. 2021) is an annual series of exhibitions presenting artists and projects that reflect the wider spectrum of graffiti, street and outsider art. Featuring original drawings, painting, sculpture, performance, installations, wearables, limited-edition print and zine releases, and more, Dog Days aims to connect the 'street' and the 'gallery' by showcasing artist's studio-based practice in relation to their work in public spaces.
