Eva Hansen Sjøvold (b. 2001) is an up-and- coming young painter from Mo i Rana in northern Norway, currently based in Oslo.
In their own words: “As a queer, I’m interested in the androgynous and experiment a lot with visual language in relation to this. I want to find ways to express the “inner space”, that is, the lives of others and my own emotional life through figurative painting. I like to paint others rather than myself, because in that way these characters can become something I use to understand both myself and those I paint.”
Eva painted their first mural in June 2022 and quickly followed this up with a second in their hometown Mo i Rana in August of the same year. In September 2024 Eva will also have a solo exhibition at Gamle Munchmuseet as part of our annual Dog Days exhibition program.
