Awat Serdashti (NO)

Awat Serdashti is a visual artist from Kurdistan, who grew up in Kongsberg, Norway. He is one of Oslo’s most prolific graffiti artists, best-known for his large-scale non-figurative paintings, and lists Keith Haring, Pablo Picasso and Aaron Curry as important sources of inspiration. In recent years he has studied at Prosjektskolen and experimented with sculptural works, most noticeably at the art festival Hvidsten Salong in summer 2021.

The wall Awat has painted at Nordmørgata 4 is his - and our - largest mural to date, a feat that would not have been possible without the help of volunteers Espen, Coline and Ann-Kristin. In the right conditions you will notice the sunlight reflecting on the silver and bronze-effect spray paint. “It is a form inspired by the female body," he says. "I have tried to use colours that go well together.”
